Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia, located partly on a peninsular of the Asian mainland and partly on the northern third of the island of Borneo. West (Peninsular) Malaysia shares a border with Thailand and is connected to by a causeway and a bridge to the island-state of Singapore. East Malaysia (Borneo), on the other hand, shares border with Brunei and Indonesia.

It is one of the 17 mega diverse country in the world with a high number of endemic species. About two thirds of Malaysia is covered in forest, with some forests believed to be 130 million years old.

Malaysia is a multi-cultural society with Malays predominating 52% of the country population, followed by significant minorities of Chinese, Indians and other native tribes of both East and West Malaysia. Islam is declared as the state religion of the country while allowing non-Muslims to continue to practice their faiths and religions.
