The Fat Fish is a Japanese-western fusion restaurant located at Retail 163 Park. The place is pretty small with limited seats. We didn’t have a reservation and most of the tables were reserved when we arrived. We ended up having to wait for quite a while to get a seat. Therefore, I really recommend making a reservation before you come.

Salmon Sashimi
Price: RM 58 (10 Pieces)

The Salmon Sashimi is fresh and thick, but the way they served it was a huge disappointment. They didn’t even bother to transfer the Sashimi onto a nice plate before serving them to us. The Sashimi was taken straight out from the fridge and served to us. But fortunately, it was deliciously fresh, tender and juicy.

Fat Fish Pizza

Price: RM 32

This is their signature and also one of their best selling dishes. The pizza is made from a base of deep fried rice dough topped with pieces of fresh Salmon Sashimi, Tuna, Shiro Maguro, Tobiko and Teriyaki Sauce. I love the crunchy texture of the rice dough. Do give this a try because the raw Salmon and crispy rice crust combo turns out surprisingly well.

Salmon Steak

Price: RM 40

For the main course, I ordered their Salmon Steak. The dish consists of Grilled Salmon with Sautéed Mixed Mushroom, Truffle mash and Teriyaki Sauce. I love the Truffle Mash (Creamy mash potatoes with Truffle Oil) because it was so rich and creamy. I also love the taste of truffle oil, which adds extra earthy unami and tons of aromatic flavor to the mash potatoes. The Salmon was grilled to medium-rare. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside - so meltingly delicious.

Fish & Chips

Price: RM 38

Fish & Chips consists of deep fried Sea Bass, Fries and tartar sauce. Exchanged the fries to salad. The fried fish tasted good, but nothing special. It was a little greasy though.

Grilled Unagi

Price: RM 60

Grilled Unagi coated in sweet sticky glaze. I am not a fan of Unagi, but this was expensively good.

Grilled Saba

Price: RM 23

Grilled Saba was nothing. Lightly seasoned with salt - simple but tasty.

Conclusion

Overall, prices are a little on the higher side but the quality of the food are high. Everything we ordered was deliciously fresh. Portions are fairly generous as well.

The Fat Fish is not some fancy or high class restaurant. The place has a very casual and cozy atmosphere, which is great for gatherings. Service was quite fast since there weren't many customers to serve. Highly recommended!
