Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus is a famous Indonesian cuisine originated from Yogyakarta. The brand has more than 700 outlets spread across a number of major cities in Indonesia. The good thing is, they also have quite a number of outlets all around Malaysia. Recently, we ordered food delivery from their Danau Kota outlet. This was our second time ordering this because I was craving it.

Their selling point is their delicious and super spicy Sambal that will burn your tongue and soul away. All their Sambal are freshly made in batches and there are 3 levels of spiciness for you to choose from - Normal, Spicy, Extra Spicy. For those who can't handle spicy food, I would recommend you to choose 'Normal' for your spicy level. Don't underestimate the 'Normal' spicy level as the spiciness is enough to burn your tongue.

We chose 'Spicy' for our orders. Although it was very spicy, it was really delicious. The Sambal was savory and had a little bit of nutty flavor.

Their menu is simple and straightforward. We ordered the most basic set which consists of rice, raw cabbage, tempeh, fried tofu puff, chicken and cucumber.  We ordered both crispy chicken and original chicken to try. Crispy chicken is marinated with various herbs and deep fried to golden brown while the original chicken is grilled.

The chicken is smaller than before. Might not be enough for big eaters. The Sambal goes well with the chicken and rice. We prefer crispy chicken to original chicken because it was more fragrant. I like to mix the sambal with a little bit of Kicap Manis to enhance the flavor. So appetizing and addicting! Sedap!
