In conjunction with the Spring season, Oreo has released two Japanese inspired flavors - Sakura Matcha and Peach Oolong. The two flavors are launched exclusively in Hong Kong back in year 2020, thus it is difficult to find in Malaysia. But I still managed to buy it from Shopee after searching around for it online. 

I only bought the Sakura Matcha Oreo because I find it extremely eye-catching and photogenic. For this spring release, it has take on a new Japanese themed design. Instead of the original blue packaging, the Sakura Matcha Oreo comes in a pink and green rectangle box with pictures of cherry blossoms and a Matcha bowl.

Wheat Flour, White Sugar, Edible Vegetable Oil, Edible Glucose Starch, Milk Powder, Green Tea Powder, Food Additives (Sodium Bicarbonate, Soybean Lecithin, Cochineal Red, Ammonium Bicarbonate), Whey Powder, Edible Salt, Food Flavors and Fragrance. Contains wheat, dairy products and soy products

Inside the box, you will find two small pink packs, each containing 5 Oreo biscuits. I love the small packaging because it is convenient to bring around. 

For the Sakura Matcha flavor, Oreo is ditching is its classic black chocolate biscuits. The biscuits are in lovely pink in color! It is so pretty and romantic. Even if it does not taste nice, the color will win everything as it will certainly makes most of the girls go crazy.

Sandwiched between the two light pink Sakura cookies is bittersweet green Matcha creme filling, which is made from real Matcha powder. The pink biscuits have a mild sweet floral smell. However, it does not really have a distinct flavor. There is probably a subtle sweetness, but nothing particularly outstanding that will impress you. 

The Matcha filling has a delicate and very subtle earthy flavor .Some people might not like the earthly flavor, but I love it since I am a Matcha fan. It has a slightly bitter and moderately sweet taste. I feel that the bitterness actually balanced the sweetness. 

Overall, I think it taste good. Eating this Sakura Matcha Oreo actually makes me feel as though I am travelling in Japan during Springtime. If you are a fan of Matcha-flavored things, I believe these Oreos are for you. Even so,  I still prefer the classic-black-and-white Oreo biscuits because it is just what I grew up with.
