Life is good when alcohol and cookies are combined. My good friend sent me a box of alcoholic cookies from The Alcoholic Baker on my birthday this year. Alcoholic cookies sound pretty interesting. Furthermore, The Alcoholic Baker actually claims that the cookies are better than sex. Well, I can't really compare these cookies to sex because they are totally different things, but I would say the cookies are equally as good as sex.
The cookies came in a box with a wax seal and my name tag tied to it. You can have it customized for special occasions, making it an ideal gift. The packaging is classy and gorgeous, so I was really delighted when I received the package. I love how they use wax seal on the box, which adds a special touch to the packaging. However, it makes me didn't want to break the seal to open the package. That was why I only opened it two days after it was delivered.
As soon as I opened the box, the scent of heavenly chocolatey goodness instantly hit my nose. These cookies not only smell heavenly, but they are also visually appealing. They look and smell sinfully delicious with immaculate attention to details.
The box contains 6 cookies in 3 tempting flavors, namely the NUT Job, the OR-gasm and the JACK-off. You can order the cookies in box of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 based on your preferences and budgets. By the look of it, you can see that they are pretty generous with the ingredients. The cookies are also roughly the same size and baked to perfect consistency. Putting the 3 different flavored cookies together makes an eye-catching presentation, making them Instagram-worthy.
From left to right: Bailey's Irish Cream infused dark chocolate glaze for the NUT Job, Jim Beam's Bourbon infused caramel sauce for the OR-gasm and JACK Daniel's sour mash Whiskey for the JACK-off.
Among the three, the JACK Daniel's sour mash Whiskey has the strongest smell of alcohol. It has a distinctive sour taste to it and has a slightly bitter taste. The taste of it was so overpowering that I can't eat the sauce on its own.
The Bailey's Irish Cream infused dark chocolate glaze has the least alcohol taste. It is sweet and rich, and tastes absolutely like chocolate.
The Jim Beam's Bourbon infused caramel sauce has a slightly sweet and salty taste. The taste of alcohol is also strong, but not as overpowering as the JACK Daniel's sour mash Whiskey.
According to the Alcoholic Baker, there are a few ways to enjoy the cookies:
For the Sofie
Microwave cookies for 10-15 seconds and then drizzle with its respective sauce to allow an explosion of flavors in the mouth
For the Hardcore
Lightly dip the cookies into the alcoholic sauce and experience it raw from the box with your favorite coffee or tea.
For the Wild
Soak them good with a cup of cold milk or with any ice cream of your choice then top them with their divine sauce.
STORAGE
According to the Alcoholic Baker, the cookies should best kept in the refrigerator after the day of delivery and best consumed within 2 weeks. But I didn't keep them in the refrigerator and consumed them in 4 days after delivery. The taste and texture of the cookies had remained the same.
THE NUT JOB
The Bailey's Irish Cream infused dark chocolate glaze is the perfect accompaniment to the cookies, which greatly enhanced the taste of it. It was so good that I was licking the chocolate sauce off my fingers. This is definitely something that will satisfy every of your alcoholic chocolate craving.
THE OR-GASM
The OR-gasm is a classic chocolate chip cookie with dark chocolate chunks and topped with caramel pretzels. This was a chocolatey, salty goodness that goes well with the Jim Beam's Bourbon infused caramel sauce. The pretzels added a nice crunch to the soft cookies. If you are a chocolate fan, you will also be delighted by the huge chunk of chocolate in the cookies.
The JACK-off is a cranberry raisin cookie with ginger infused marmalade reduction sauce. It is nutty, fruity and fresh. The JACK Daniel's sour mash Whiskey sauce goes perfectly well with the cranberry raisin and nuts. For anyone who hate chocolate, this is quite a good choice.
CONCLUSION
Just one single bite, I can feel the love and hard work that the Alcoholic baker put into every single piece of cookies. This was definitely not the normal cookies that Famous Amos will serve. I usually do not like sweet desserts and have always find Famous Amos cookies too sweet to my liking. Therefore, I have never enjoy eating them. But these cookies from Alcoholic Baker are perfect and I actually love them very much.
The cookies are not too sweet and have many layers of texture and flavor. They actually taste very different with and without alcoholic sauce. The texture of the cookies are in between soft and crunchy, and the thickness are also just nice. They are not extremely thin or thick, or crumbly at all.
For people who do not drink alcohol, you can also enjoy the cookies by its own without dipping them into the alcohol infused sauce. The sauce actually add extra richness and layer of flavor to these cookies, You can actually taste the alcohol in the sauce but it won’t get you drunk.
