Lululun is one of the best selling sheet mask brand in Japan, with over 50 billion pieces of masks sold since 2011. The brand offers a wide range of face masks with different benefits and is well-loved by both Japanese and foreign tourists.
Unlike the usual serum mask, Lululun is a toner mask that is carefully developed for daily use to replace your toner with multiple added benefits.
What is Toner Mask?
Toner masking is a popular skincare routine originated from Japan but is getting a lot more attention in recent years due to the growing popularity of Korean skincare. It is a method of soaking two to three cotton pads into your favorite toner or essence or both, and then stick them to your face like a mask for three to five minutes. It is like a quick fix for dry and dehydrated skin that helps to hydrate, calm and even out the skin instantly. Toner masking can be a tedious process. But with Lululun daily toner mask, it can ease this toning method and save you lots of trouble, especially when you are pressed for time!
Lululun Precious
Lululun Precious is an aging care series intended for matured skin. It is an updated version of the standard Lululun mask series and is available in three different variations - Red, White and Green. Each color is targeted for different skin concerns.
Red - Moisturizing (for dry mature skin)
White - Youth restore & whitening (for dry/dull mature skin)
Green - Intensive sebum balance (for dry/combination mature skin)
Red - Moisturizing (for dry mature skin)
White - Youth restore & whitening (for dry/dull mature skin)
Green - Intensive sebum balance (for dry/combination mature skin)
In this post, I will be reviewing the Green one. I have received this mask from Kokoro Japan Online Store recently, which is just perfect for my oily/combination skin.

XANTHAN GUM, CITRIC ACID, NA CITRATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, METHYL PARABEN
Lululun masks are free of alcohol, mineral oil, artificial fragrance and colors, but contains paraben.

Moss cell culture extract - Retains moisture and refines aging skin
Hydrolyzed collagen - Restore and moisturize skin
Gluco-oligosaccharide - Hydrates, conditions and strengthen skin from the inside
Other than that, it also incorporate a new ingredient "L22", which is a moisturizing ingredient oil made from various plants that imitates the sebum balance of a healthy 22-year old. It helps to give skin naturally boost elasticity and firmness. To put it simply, it means it is anti-aging.
Packaging
The Lululun Precious Green mask is available in a weekly pack of 7 or a monthly pack of 32. I have received a weekly pack of 7. It comes in a resealable zip lock bag containing 7 folded masks with plenty of toning essence.
I always love the multipack packaging because it is more environmentally friendly. Not only it helps to reduce plastic waste but it is also more travel friendly. But make sure you seal the bag back tight after using to avoid the masks from drying out.
Material
The Lululun Precious Green mask is a 3-layers mask made with microfiber cotton and is 120% thicker than the standard Lululun masks. It is pretty rough and thick but not very stretchy. But I like that it does not tear easily.
The 3-layers mask is made up of a middle layer that retains and locks in the skin toning lotion and two outer layers that support the penetration of the lotion into the inner layers of the skin. As a result, the
toner mask has 65% more moisture absorption rate, which helps the skin retain moisture 3 hours longer than normal toner.
Each piece of mask is soaked in plenty of toning essence, but it does not drip excessively. Sometimes I find it a little hard to separate the mask because they stick together. I also find the mask a little small, especially around the eyes and lips areas. Well, it is not really a bad thing because this means that the mask can cover every corner of the eyes, nose and lips areas. I like that it fits comfortably to the skin and does not slip or slide off while I was doing housework.
Smell
The mask does not have any strong unpleasant scent. Well, there is actually a very faint smell, but I could not really make anything out of it.
Results
There is a mild tingling sensation upon application. But I continued to use the mask anyway since it does not cause any redness, itchiness or breakouts. The tingling sensation does go away after a few minutes, but it was not really a good feeling.
The mask works well on my oily/combination skin. I like that it is lightweight and non sticky. The toning essence has a watery consistency which can get absorbed by my skin easily. It keeps my skin moisturized for an entire day, making it feels soft and smooth to the touch. My skin also looks instantly renewed, dewy and firmer after application.
Application
It is suggested that you use the mask immediately after you cleanse your face and before applying a moisturizer. You can skip the toner if you want after application since this is a toner mask. You can even use it twice a day (morning and night) instead of serum and moisturizer. But I would not recommend skipping moisturizer because this might not be moisturizing enough, especially for people with dry skin or live in a cold and dry country.
Conclusion
Well, this is not a holy grail sheet mask that I cannot live without, but can be a perfect item to add to my daily skin care routine since it is pretty convenient. It can be a great replacement for your daily toner because it keeps your skin well-moisturized. Price wise, it is affordable but not cheap. It is definitely more expensive than using a toner, but perfect for anyone who needs an extra boost of hydration.
