A while ago, I ran out of my usual night time moisturizer - the Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream, which left me anxiously searching for an alternative moisturizer to replace my faithful one.
Since I have been a loyal fan and user of the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion for many years, I decided to give the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream (also known as Hada Labo Gokujyun Hydrating Cream) a try.
What Hada Labo Says
Gokujyun means "extra moisturizing" in Japanese. The key ingredient in Hada Labo Gokujyun range is Super Hyaluronic Acid, which is often known for its superior moisture retention properties. 1 gram of Super Hyaluronic Acid is said to be able to hold up to 12 liters of water.
The Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream is infused with 4 types of Hyaluronic Acid which deeply penetrates the skin to hydrate and help restore skin's moisture barrier to prevent moisture loss. It has the ability to lock in moisture in the skin, leaving the skin feeling beautifully soft and smooth.
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream is a luxuriously rich and intense night time moisturizer - perfect for all skin types.
All Hada Labo products are formulated between a PH level of 5.0 to 6.5, which helps to balance the skin's PH level to maintain a healthy, moisturized skin. Apart from that, they are also non- comedogenic and thus, would not clog pores, making it ideal for people with oily, acne-prone or combination skin.
How Do I Feel About This Product
1. Smell
Just like what Hada Labo claimed, the cream does not contain any artificial fragrance or oils and does not have any noticeable smell at all. This product might be ideal for people with sensitive skin.
The Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream comes in a 50 g opaque glass jar with a white screw cap. The glass jar, although small in size, is quite bulky and might not be travel friendly. Surprisingly, the glass jar used to contain the cream is quite thick, which makes it durable enough to survive most of the fall.
The price, although slightly on the expensive side, is still affordable. You can easily purchase the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream from most major drugstores and supermarkets for less than RM 70. I bought mine recently from a Guardian store for around RM 60 after a 20% discount.
However, a little of the cream goes a long way. To moisturize my face, only a pea-sized amount of the cream is needed. A jar of the cream would probably last me for more than half a year, so the price I paid totally was worth it.
Moisturizing
As what Hada Labo has promised to deliver, this product is effective in providing instant moisture to my skin, helping it to repair while I sleep. My skin feels hydrated instantly, giving it a natural and healthy glow. I love how bright and smooth my skin looks when I woke up the next morning.
Greasy, but lightweight
The cream itself is creamy white with a thick but runny consistency. However, it takes a long while for the skin to absorb, leaving a wet sticky residue after application. But once it is completely absorbed, the stickiness will disappear and instantly, my skin feels softer, smoother and more supple to the touch.
To be frank, I am actually worried that this product would be too greasy for my skin and it might makes my skin break me out badly. But fortunately, I have not experienced any breakouts after application.
I would not advise anyone to use this product as a day time cream, especially for those who have combination or oily skin. The formulation is a little too rich and oily for day time usage. Furthermore, it does not offer any sun protection and hence, is best to be use only at night.
How Do I Use This Product
I am using this Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream as my night time moisturizer. The method of application is very simple.
1. Cleanse your face thoroughly with a facial cleanser to remove any grease or dirt from your skin. Do not use water that is extremely too hot or too cold as this may cause damages to your skin. For this, I will usually reach out for my most favorite facial cleanser - the EverSoft Ginkgo with Grapefruit Facial Cleanser.
2. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.
3. Using a cotton pad, proceed on to pat in some toner on your face. For extra dry areas, you may want to lightly press the toner into your skin as you apply. For this, I will always reach out for my most favorite toner - the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion.
4. After I am done with the toner, you may proceed on to massage a pea-sized amount of the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream onto your face. Do not forget to apply the cream around your neck areas as well. This will help to keep the skin on your neck hydrated and youthful.
Even though Hada Labo claims that all its products are ideal for all skin types, it is best that you test your personal reaction to the cream on a small area of your skin before use. Please discontinue use immediately if you started to develop irritation after application of the cream.
Final Thoughts
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream is well-loved by many people around the world, especially in Asia. This is undoubtedly my most favorite night time cream right now. Since I started using this cream, my skin feels softer and more supple than before, giving me a gorgeous and dewy looking complexion.
If you are a fan of the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Cream, I believe you will love the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion very much as well. I will really recommend this product if you are looking for a good night time cream to try.
