[Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia] Alva KL | Sky Dining & Grill Restaurant with KLCC View

Alva KL is the latest addition to rooftop dining scene in Kuala Lumpur. Located at Ascott Star KLCC along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, this sky dining and grill restaurant takes your gastronomic journey to new heights.
Although the official address of the restaurant is on the 99th floor, it is actually located on the 58th floor of the building.
As soon as you stepped into the restaurant, you'll be immediately greeted by the city's skyline. The restaurant offers uninterrupted panoramic views of the Petronas Twin Towers, the KL Tower and TRX Tower, with alfresco and air-conditioned seating both available.
We were seated indoor even though we had made a reservation weeks before indicating that we would like an outdoor seat. The interior of the restaurant is elegantly decorated, with soft, warm lights, plush seating and marble tables, creating an atmosphere of romance and sophistication.
The menu features a meticulously curated selection of modern fusion cuisines, ranging from succulent grill meats, fresh seafood and delectable pastas creations, as well as refreshing cocktails. Although the menu is not extensive, every creation is prepared with precision and flair using high quality ingredients. You can check out their menu online.
SEARED US SCALLOPS
Price: RM 38
The beautifully seared scallops with golden crust are adorned with Japanese fish roe for an extra hint of umami. Each sat on a bed of creamy, crunchy taro fritters with velvety and rich Beurre blanc sauce on the side.
The pan-seared scallops are slightly crispy on the outside and buttery tender on the inside. They are delicately sweet flavor with a firm, succulent texture.
ATLANTIC MISO BLACK COD
One of Alva KL's signature dish is Atlantic Miso Black Cod. Topped with a bit of Ikura, the Atlantic Miso Black Cod is served on a fragrant lotus leaf. The unique presentation made the dish stood out from the rest. It was not only visually stunning but also equally delicious.
Marinated in miso, this black cod dish is bursting with savory umami and slight sweetness. The rich and savory profile of miso enhanced the overall taste and aroma of the dish, making each bite irresistible.
I love the taste and texture of Black Cod. The fish meat has a distinctively rich buttery flavor and a smooth, velvety texture that will melt in your mouth. Although fatty, the fish does not have a strong fishy taste like tuna or mackerel. It was so delicious, moist and tender!
GARLIC PRAWN PASTA

The Garlic Prawn Pasta was also delicious in its simplicity. It comes with seared tiger prawns and an extremely rich garlic butter infused spaghetti topped with fish roe.
The spaghetti absorbed the fragrance of the garlic and olive oil. I love that it was amazingly garlicky without being too overpowering. If you love garlic, you will surely love this pasta dish as well.
The fresh prawns are grilled to perfection, with their shells still intact, to lock in all the delicious flavor with a slightly smoky and charred taste. The charred bits and smoky flavor of the prawns were delicious, and went absolutely well with the buttery, garlicky spaghetti.
AUSTRALIAN LAMB SHORT RIBS

The slow-cooked lamb ribs were juicy, tender with a nice crisp crust. They were flavorful, with perfect balance of meat and fat, providing a rich flavor that are both robust and delicate. The tangy and citrus flavor of Ponzu sauce pairs perfectly with the rich flavor of the lamb ribs and balance out the fattiness of the meat.
SUMMER GRILLED CHICKEN
Other than Lamb Short Ribs and Miso Black Cod, we also ordered their Summer Grilled Chicken. The grilled boneless chicken thighs is served on a bed of creamy mashed potato with french bean fritters on the side. Lightly charred on the outside and tender on the inside, the juicy chicken thighs meat was extremely flavorful. I love the mashed potato as well. It was velvety smooth and creamy. Lightly battered and deep fried, the french bean fritters was also a delight to eat.
TRUFFLE CHIPS
Price: RM 22
The Truffle Chips are thinly sliced and deep fried to perfection. Lightly seasoned with salt, truffle oil and topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese, these crispy chips are incredibly moreish and dangerously addictive. The truffle flavor was distinct but not overpowering. Portions were also huge, which makes it great for sharing with friends.
Whether you are planning a romantic night out, a special celebration, or a casual evening with friends, Alva KL is the perfect place to dine! Each dish is a culinary masterpiece that harmonizes colors, tastes and aromas. Amongst our favorites are the Miso Black Cod, Seared US Scallops and Garlic Prawn Pasta. Both the Australian Lamb Short Ribs and Summer Grilled Chicken were delicious as well.
Beyond the culinary delights, Alva KL also offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, inviting guests to linger and savor the moment.
Service was however, slow and inattentive. Although the servers were polite, they seemed not well-trained. We were left sitting at our table by ourselves for more than half an hour after being seated. No one came to greet us or brought us a menu. If we had not signal to the servers, we may continue to be ignored.
All in all, we had a lovely experience dining at Alva KL. Prices were surprisingly affordable for a sky dining restaurant.
