The bunch of tiny clogged pores on my nose always bothers me a lot, and I have been continuously searching for a skincare product that can help to improve this annoying skin issue. Since I had a good experience with the Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner , I decided to give Bye Bye Blackhead 30 Days Miracle Green Tea Tox Bubble Cleanser a try. The Bye Bye Blackhead 30 Days Miracle Green Tea Tox Bubble Cleanser is a low PH bubble cleanser that is formulated by Green Tea Tox (a combination of green tea water and various tea extracts), naturally derived Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) and a tannin complex. claims to help you remove blackheads and impurities from your skin in just 5 minutes and keep pores squeaky clean for a brighter and cleaner complexion.

The cleanser contains 240,000mg/L (ppm) of green tea water and 16 kinds of tea extracts, which comprises Lavender tea, Chrysanthemum tea, Hibiscus tea, Rooibos tea, Mugwort tea, Safflower tea, Chestnut tea, Rosemary tea, Clover tea, Sage tea, Jasmine tea, etc. These ingredients helps to deeply cleanse the skin against sebum and nourish the skin. In addition to that, it also contains 5,000mg/L (ppm) of BHA derived from white willow bark, which will help to retain moisture level in the skin and eliminate dead skin cells.

It is infused with small bits of Konjac granules that are made with different sizes of green tea leaves, which offers gentle exfoliation without irritating the skin. The cleanser is also said to be free from any harmful chemicals that can irritate skin and the mildly acidic formulation makes it suitable for sensitive skin.

PACKAGING

The cleanser comes in a 120 ml dark green tinted pump bottle and packed in a white green cardboard box. I like that it comes a safety lock to prevent any leakages when I bring it on my travels. The pump bottle makes it easy to use and dispense just the right amount of product needed every time, which helps to minimize waste and reduce wastage.

HOW TO USE

1. Apply a small amount of the product to your face when it is dry and spread it thinly and evenly, like applying a facial mask

2. After the product foams, lightly wet your hands and gently rub your face in circular motions

3. Rinse off the cleanser thoroughly with lukewarm water

According to Some By Mi, you can use the cleanser either as a weekly intensive blackhead cleanser/mask or a daily cleanser. However, I would recommend using this product only once or twice a week, especially for people with dry or sensitive skin as it can be a little drying on the skin.

If you are using it as a 5 minutes bubble mask instead of a daily cleanser, this is basically how the product works:

Step 1 (3 mins) : Melt away blackheads

The 16 various tea ingredients and 5,000 ppm of naturally sourced BHA ingredients will help to melt away blackheads, whiteheads and other impurities.

Step 2 (1 min) : Remove blackheads

Fine BHA foam, konjac granules and live green tea leaves of various sizes will act as natural exfoliants and gently remove blackheads.

Step 3 (1 min) : Tighten Pores

The 240,000 ppm of green tea water and "Tannin complex", a patented ingredient, will provide pore care and tighten enlarged pores.

TEXTURE

The Bye Blackhead 30 Days Miracle Green Tea Tox Bubble Cleanser starts off as a greenish slimy gel which can spread easily on the skin. The gel will magically transform into a soft cloud-like foam once you massage it onto your dry skin.

SMELL

The product smell like mint candy and green tea, which I find it very refreshing and calming. It gives off a pleasant cooling sensation once I applied it on my face.

You will see bubbles forming almost immediately once you started massaging the cleanser onto your face in circular motions. It is actually pretty fun and enjoyable to see the bubbles forming on your face. However, you might want to avoid applying it near your eyes or nostrils. It is really not fun when you have the bubbles getting into your nose and eyes.

I could feel the formula is working to melt and remove the impurities on my skin as the bubbles are forming. It was quite a strange feeling, but I love the cool and minty sensation on my skin. After washing off, my skin feels clean, baby soft and fresh. I love how my skin glows and looks brighter after every use.

Although blackheads and pores appear less visible, it does not help to remove blackheads completely, especially those deep-rooted ones. I use this cleanser once to twice a week because I find it a little drying even though I have oily/ combination skin. I usually put on a moisturizing facial mask after cleansing my face with this product. This is why I don't recommend anyone to use this cleaner on daily basis, especially people with dry skin.

CONCLUSION

I have been using this cleaner for months and so far, I have not experienced any breakouts or skin irritations. Although the result is not instant, I think that it helps to clean out blocked pores and reduce blackheads production. I think the only major downside of this product is that it made my skin dry. But even so, I still enjoy using this product as it helped my skin look clearer and smoother.

[Klang, Malaysia] Regent Pandan Layer Cake Shop 锦盛蛋糕店

Klang is often associated with Bak Kut Teh, but if you dig it a little further, you will find that the town is also famous for its legendary Pandan Layer Cake. Located just a few minutes walk away from Klang KTM station, the famous Regent Pandan Layer Cake Shop is an old school bakery established in 1977.

It is obvious that not much has changed in terms of décor since it opened its door more than 40 years ago. The humble cake shop sells a variety of cakes and pastries such as Philippines chocolate cake, chiffon cake, swiss roll, etc. However, their signature is the Pandan layer cake. which is well loved by generations of Klang residents. Many people in the town and beyond grew up eating the famous five-layer Pandan cake, and it comes in a few varieties - the classic Pandan, Pandan mix Yam, Pandan mix Corn, Durian, Corn and Yam.

I bought their classic Pandan layer cake to try. The cakes are available in different sizes (250g, 500g and 1 kg) and this one I bought is 500g, which costs RM 26. I would recommend buying only what you can eat because the cakes have pretty short shelf life (3-5 days).

Opening the box, the first thing that hits your nose is the fragrance of the cake, which comes from the extract of Pandan leaves. The five distinct layers of sponge cake is layered with five layers smooth green kuih like filling that is made from freshly squeezed Pandan juice, fresh coconut milk and mung bean flour.

Served chilled from the refrigerator, the texture of the cake is light, soft and smooth like jelly. I love that it is not overly sweet or rich, with no artificial flavoring or coloring added.

The sponge cake layers are sturdier and stronger than the typical sponge cakes you will find in the market. Despite the dense filling, the cake does not absorb moisture and become soggy from the slightly wet jellied layers.

The Verdict

This is probably the best Pandan layered cake I have tasted so far. For people visiting Klang, I think this will be a sweet souvenir to bring back home. The cakes get sold out quickly, especially on weekends. There are often long queue, but we were lucky that there were not many customers on the day we visited the shop.

[Review] Lay's Truffle Flavored Potato Chips 乐事黑松露口味薯片

I was really excited when I read about the new Truffle Flavored chips that Lay's Taiwan has released earlier this year, and immediately, I decided that I have to try it out. It was really hard to get this bag of chips online because it got sold out really fast. Thankfully, I eventually managed to get my hands on a bag of it after browsing through multiple Lazada and Shopee stores.

I got this big bag of chips for RM 18! This was at least 3 times more expensive than a normal bag of Lay's chips. After all, truffle is one of the most expensive food in the world. I haven't never eaten real truffles before, so I absolutely have no idea how it taste like. Thus, I can't really comment whether these truffle-flavored chips taste like the real truffles at all. Read on to find out about what I think about these chips, and you might also want to check out the list of different Lays chips flavors I have tried so far.

INGREDIENTS

As expected, after taking a look at the ingredients list, the chips don't contain real truffle because they are extremely expensive and rare. The chips are made with artificial truffle flavoring. After all, these chips are called "truffle flavored chips" rather than "truffle chips". As everyone knows, it's simply impossible for one to buy chips that are flavored with real truffle for just RM 18.

The royal purple packaging is extremely eye-catching, which made the chips look exceptionally luxurious. Upon ripping open the bag, a faint aroma of truffles and wild mushroom instantly hit my nose. However, peering into it, I was slightly disappointed to see the bag of chips was only half filled.

The chips are light yellow color, with plenty of black seasoning bits all over. They are generally small and have lots of air bubbles, which give them a good crispness and brittle crunch.

I crunched to find a very distinctive and rich earthy mushroom taste. I like that the chips are not very salty and full of flavor. The amount of salt is just enough to bring out the potato flavor, making the chips so addictive that you can't stop eating them. Usually I get really thirsty after eating potato chips, but these truffle flavored chips didn't make my mouth dry.

I can't say I immediately fell in love with the flavor at first, but after a couple of bites, it grew on me. The flavor of the truffle is noticeable, but not overpowering. It doesn't taste artificial either. The garlic and pepper also added a savory taste to these chips. I think this truffle flavored chips is a great alternative for one to taste truffle without breaking the bank. They are such an absolute delight, and I would definitely recommend everyone to have a try.
